Support Vector Travel Machine

1. Traveling is a support vector machine.

Traveling is like projecting low-dimensional emotional state into high-dimensional scenery & experiences, and then embedding them back into low-dimensional words, music, and thoughts. It’s like Kernel PCA in machine learning.

2. Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)

oh wow funky!

Lookin' at the devil, grinnin' at his gun
Fingers start shakin', I begin to run
Bullets start chasin', I begin to stop
We begin to wrestle, I was on the top

I want to thank you falettinme be mice elf agin
Thank you falettinme be mice elf agin

Stiff all in the collar, fluffy in the face
Chit chat chatter tryin', stuffy in the place
Thank you for the party but I could never stay
Many things is on my mind, words in the way

I want to thank you falettinme be mice elf agin
Thank you falettinme be mice elf agin

Dance to the music
All night long
Everyday people
Sing a simple song
Mama's so happy
Mama start to cry
Papa still singin'
We can make it if we try

I want to thank you falettinme be mice elf agin
Thank you falettinme be mice elf agin

Flamin' eyes of people fear, burnin' into you
Many men are missin' much, hatin' what they do
Youth and truth are makin' love
Dig it for a starter
Dyin' young is hard to take
Sellin' out is harder

Thank you falettinme be mice elf agin
I want to thank you falettinme be mice elf agin

4. Let the elephant run on the right track.

Rider and Elephant

Spanish Learning elephant is off the right track maybe. Now, I need a combo.

On the other hand, BJJ/Boxing elephant is alright. Only need to motivate the elephant.

The rider is helped best when understanding where to go (vision) and why to go there (mission, purpose, benefits). Next is having small concrete steps to get there (a clear path). And of course, look around for what’s working for others and see if you can use it (as Picasso said: ‘Good artists copy; great artists steal’).

The elephant needs to feel the change is needed, so find out what it is that makes them happy, sad, angry, etc and make that tangible somehow (e.g. visualizing wait time, positive feedback on required behavior). Elephants are easily spooked, so either make the change smaller (‘A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step’) or grow your people (e.g. ’ yes we can’ attitude, supportive leadership).

The path is whatever way is easiest for people to go from A to B, also known as, of course, the elephant path. Instead of trying to fight it (rules, fences), make the path you want people to follow the easiest path to follow by removing impediments and placing incentives and rewards. Also, as behavior is contagious, the path is where others go, so help it spread (e.g. lead by example, support and reward small initiatives),

The elephant, rider and path analogy is easy to recall and very powerful. There are infinite ways to address the three, only limited by your imagination, creativity and conscience. Just remember to address all three and not just one. We all too often tend to convince the rider and assume the elephant to follow suit and jump any fences on the path.
